To improve road user safety, vehicles (passenger cars and heavy goods vehicles) travelling in the 34 designated departments (see map below) must be equipped with 4 winter tyres or anti-slip devices / recovery equipment. Vehicle traffic in areas not covered by the regulation may also be restricted in the event of snowfall.
The Mountain Law applies from 1 November 2023 to 31 March 2024.
